Formula One's cousin, Formula E to make debut in 2014

You must have heard about cars of Formula One whizzing at a speed of 300 km/h on various tracks across the world, but there is another form of racing, which you might not have heard about. Known as Formula E, this form of racing is set to enthrall people across the world as a number of cities are preparing to host the race in 2014.

The competition is going to be of top notch for one-make, single seat and electronically powered cars. May be it would not be able to come up to terms with the speed of a formula one car, but the quality of competition will be second to none.

The planning of such a championship started in 2012 and the organisers have done a great amount of work to shape up a brighter future for Formula E. As of now, two teams - China Racing and Drayson Racing ¬- are said to have confirmed their participation.

London, Rome, Los Angeles, Beijing, Putrajaya, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro are some of the major cities that are going to host Formula E races. All these cities would be excited to host such kind of a race, which has a great potential in the near future, if not at present, as the competition is very young. A total of 10 cities would be hosting the races and it would formally be signed by July. Formula E Holdings is promoting the FIA Formula E Championship.

Formula E Holdings executive Alejandro Agag spoke to miaminewtimes.com on the popularity of Formula E. “The fact that cities from all over the world are interested in the FIA Formula E Championship is extremely heartening and shows a global commitment to clean mobility and sustainability,” Agag was quoted as saying.

The cities going to host these races will conduct the races on locations, which are popular with grand backdrop to make it a fantastic sight. It also includes street circuits.
