Four-day Chhath festival at Galta Lake in Jaipur concludes
Four-day Chhath festival dedicated to Sun God that began at Galta Lake in Jaipur on October 24 was on its peak on October 26.

Jaipurites along with migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh started the festival with early bath and worship of the rising Sun at lake which is also called Chhoti Kashi.

People fasted the whole day and again worshipped the setting Sun. During the nights, the devotees slept on the ground or house floors for four days as a part of the ritual.

Not only water was offered to the rising and setting Sun by standing in water but also rice, sugarcane and  seasonal fruits covered with red or saffron coloured cloth pieces during the four-day festival were offered to the deity.

Also, Chhathi Maiya or Goddess Usha was worshipped at dawn all done standing in water by thousands of women at the lake.

The Chhath Puja is performed to thank Surya for sustaining life on Earth and bestowing healing energy leading to well-being, prosperity and progress. Here is my acrostic on Chhath.

C: Celebrating the benevolence of Sun God for providing
H: Healing and life-giving energy to
H: Humankind by four-day fasting and
A: Abstinence to remind us about the
T: Timeless, limitless and spaceless supreme soul
