Rain played spoil sport on Sunday and the last ODI match of the series between India and West Indies was washed out. India eventually won the series 2-1. Indian Captain Dhoni was declared man of the series.
WEST INDIES' plans of drawing the ODI series 2-2 were halted by the rain gods on Sunday. On a cloudy Sunday, Dhoni won the toss for the fourth consecutive time in the series and asked West Indies to bat first. Ishant Sharma struck home in the second ball of the match and got rid of the dangerous Chris Gayle. Thereafter, Sarwan and Mortan played cautiously and took the West Indies score to 27 in 7.3 overs. Soon however, the rain came down so heavily that the match had to be called off, as ground conditions were not fit for play. The washed-out game meant that India won the series 2-1. This is the fifth straight ODI series win for the men in blue.
Indian captain Mahinder Singh Dhoni was declared man of the series. Team India will now have a two-month break where they will not be required to play any kind of international cricket for some time, so giving the players ample time to relax ahead of the tri-series starting in September which will feature New Zealand, Sri Lanka and India.
