Fourth phase of Bihar assembly polls underway, FIR against Lalu
The fourth phase of Bihar assembly election began this morning for the 42 assembly constituencies across eight districts. By-election for the Banka parliamentary seat is also going on today. Over one crore voters will decide the fate of candidates.
THE FOURTH phase of Bihar assembly election began this morning for the 42 assembly constituencies across eight districts. By-election for the Banka parliamentary seat is also underway today. Banka seat was vacated due to the death of former central minister and sitting MP Digvijay Singh.

Over one crore voters will decide the fate of 568 candidates including 58 women in this fourth phase of Bihar assembly election. Voting began at 7:00 am amidst tight security in all 42 constituencies and will end at 5:00 pm. In the Naxalite-affected 14 seats, poll will end at 3:00 pm.

Today, Election Commission registered FIRs against former state chief ministers Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi for the violating the model code of conduct. They were taking their security guards inside a booth of the Digha assembly constituency in Patna. The FIRs were registered by Digha Block Development Officer Ashok Kumar.

In the fourth phase of Bihar poll, ruling JD(U) is contesting from 25 seats and ally BJP is contesting for the 17 assembly seats, whereas RJD candidates are contesting in 26 seats and ally LJP in 16. The Congress is contesting from all 42 constituencies.

Nitish Kumar's NDA government ministers Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Nand Kishore Yadav and Ramnarayan Mandal of the BJP and Damodar Raut of the Janata Dal (U) are on the fray in the fourth phase of Bihar poll, whereas LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan's brother Pashupati Kumar Paras and former CPI(M) MP Subodh Rai, who recently joined JD(U), also contesting from Alauli and Sultanganj.
