French Open 2013: Day 4 results
The fourth day of the French Open 2013 passed without any fuss with top ranked players making it through to the next rounds. Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska, Agnieszka Radwanska in women, and Roger Federer, David Ferrer and Janko Tipsarevic were among the host of players who progressed with ease.
If there was any surprise on the fourth day, it was the ousting of Caroline Wozniacki seeded tenth, who lost her game against an unseeded player, Bojana Jovanovski 7-6 (7-2) and 6-3. Serena Williams
defeated Caroline Garcia in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2, reported Bleacher Report. Other women competitors also won with ease, like Serena, in straight sets, including Sara Errani, Victoria Azarenka
, and Angelique Kerber.
In the men's category, most of the seeded players progressed without a tough fight. Federer defeated his opponent Somdev Devvarman
6-2, 6-1, 6-1 and David Ferrer won his match against Albert Montanes 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3. If both Federer and Ferrer win their respective matches, they might clash in the semi-finals of the competition. But, it was Andreas Seppi's match against Blaz Kavcic, which was the most entertaining with the match stretching to five sets. The score read 6-0, 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (2-7), 4-6 and 6-3 with Seppi turning victorious.
There are some big matches scheduled for today in both the men's as well as the women's section. Rafael Nadal will clash against M. Klizan, while Djokovic will face G. Pella. Whereas Sharapova in the ladies category will face E. Bouchard and Chinese contender N.Li will play against B. Mattek-Sands to progress into the third round of the competition.
