The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack carried out outside Peshawar in Hangu town. The Taliban said that the attack was carried out to avenge the killing of a family of five Chechens earlier in May.
WITH THE dust not yet settled since the first attack on CID building on University Road in Peshawar, a suicide bomber struck again in Hangu town of Peshawar. The bomber rammed his double cabin pickup truck that instantly killed 36 people including ten police personnel and injuring fifty others. The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. The injured admitted in nearby hospitals are said to be in a critical condition and doctors fear that the number of death could go even higher. The Taliban had also stated that the attack was carried out to avenge the killing of a family of five Chechens earlier in May.

The attack was carried out near the District Commissioner’s office near, which were many other government organisations. However, the building located near the vicinity of the blast escaped damage, but numerous shops and other establishments were gutted down. Soon after the blast, security forces were seen cordoning off the entire area. DIG Kohat Masood Afridi told the local media that the car was laden with 450 kilograms of explosives.
It is feared that that the toll of dead people may rise higher as rescue operations teams were seen taking out live bodies from the rubble of the buildings damaged die to the impact of the blast.As the news spread, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the blasts.
