Friendship Day and Safer Internet Day celebrated widely, kind courtesy internet
This week, Friendship Day (February 4) and Safer Internet Day (SID, February 5) were celebrated on the social media with special features and posts.

Facebook came up with a special feature for sharing photographs and exchange of greeting for the Friendship Day besides the exchange of friendship bands, gifts and greetings.

SID, started in 2012, was celebrated on Tuesday, 5 February with campaign slogan, "Together for a better internet" in many schools across the country with discussions, talks and interaction by experts.

The Better Internet for Kids (BIK) portal and #SID2019 as well as #SaferInternetDay hashtags were the part of the campaign.

The organizers urged individuals and institutions to raise awareness on their networks by using some of the social media posts, visuals and cover photos we have prepared for your convenience.

However, Friendship Day celebration had caught up in the west in 1935 to become popular celebration in several Asian countries since it was lapped up by the greeting card industry.

Presently, activities on social networking sites have led to the popularity of the observance   since greeting friends is now easier than before.

Besides the celebration on the internet, the exchange of Friendship Day gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition on this occasion which is promoted by markets.
