From now onwards Varanasi to get 24x7 power supply
Amid the situation of acute power crises in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced 24x7 power supply to Varanasi, the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also known as the religious capital of India, Varanasi will now be among some of the privileged constituencies in UP to enjoy day and night power supply.

Others in the list are Mainpuri, Kannauj, the constituencies of Mulayam Singh Yadav and CM's wife Dimple Yadav; Rae Bareli and Amethi, the constituencies of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi respectively.

There are strong chances that the 24x7 power supply to Varanasi may be because of the reason that PM Narendra Modi represents the city, and the state government, at no cost wants to upset him.

Senior BJP leader Lalji Tandon and BJP MLA from Varanasi Shyamdev Narayan Chaudhary has also met Akhilesh Yadav and raised the issue of poor power situation in the district.

However, the UP CM, cited a totally different reason behind this decision by the government to supply an uninterrupted power to the district.

"Varanasi is a religious city which is also very important centre of culture and education. A large number of national and international pilgrims and tourists visit the city. The SP government's decision will ensure the comfort of the visitors to the city," said Akhilesh Yadav, as reported by India Today.

Over the poor situation of electricity supply in the state, Akhilesh Yadav has to say that the state was getting only 4500 megawatt at the moment but presently expecting 6082 megawatt of electricity from the central pool.
