THERE IS sad news for fashion Fashion TV (FTV) fans. FTV will not be televised in India for next 10 days. The government of India has banned fashion TV channel FTV for 10 days for showing visuals of topless women.
In a statement the I&B Ministry, said that it has observed that FTV channel has violated various clauses of the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994. The ban will come into effect from 7 pm on Friday March 12 to the same time on Sunday March 21 through cable television networks and any other platforms throughout the country.
According to the I&B ministry statement, FTV channel showed "women with nude upper body which was offending against good taste and decency" on Sep 4, 2009. Ministry also said, "The visuals are obscene, denigrating women and not suitable for children."
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said in the statement that it was noticed by the ministry that a programme on FTV channel was telecast on September 4, 2009, at 15:37:34 hours and 19:01:48 hours showing women with nude upper body, which was offending against good taste and decency.
In India, FTV channel banned for second time. First time it was banned in 2007 for 60 days over programs such as "Midnight Hot," showing scantily clad models.
.This is the time when all fashion fraternity and ftv viewers should come forward . Why ban on tv channel when it has its viewers and why govt is telling tv channel what to show and what not to show. Why doesnt govt fix time slot for nude fashion. Isnt it a part of fashion ?
Actually , when the govt banned ftv for midnight hot it should have condemned but the viewers by keeping quiet were not willing to fight for their right and now they are paying for it . Even if now they are quiet they will lose something more . Decide it for yourself
