Kishore Biyani's Future Group, which owns the country's largest retail chain and Tata Teleservices, has initiated a joint venture to provide mobile telephony services to the customers of Future Group's retail stores.
VERY SOON people will find mobile telephony services in the retail stores like Big Bazaar, Pantaloons and Central of Future Group. Kishore Biyani’s Future Group, which owns the country’s largest retail chain and Tata Teleservices, has initiated a joint venture to provide mobile telephony services to the customers of Future Group’s retail stores. This new venture will operate under the brand name T24 (talk 24 hours). Initially the service will be launched in Andhra Pradesh and in the later stages the service will be available in all other Future Group outlets which are present in 75 major cities 65 other rural destinations of the country.
The most important part to mention here from the customers perspective is that the service subscribers will be awarded free talk time depending on their purchases at these stores. For example, a customer can enjoy 50 minutes free talk time if his purchases amounts to Rs 2,501 at Pantaloons stores. Likewise if a customer in a Big Bazaar outlet purchases worth Rs 1,501 he can gain free talk-time of 90 minutes.
Future Group operates the largest retail chain in India and is trying to leverage its widespread penetration in the sphere of retail market to launch new services and on the other hand, Tata Teleservices is a big player in the crowd of telecom service providers in the country, which provides both GSM and CDMA services. Analysts are optimistic about this unique marketing alliance. ‘Shop More, Talk More’ is the punch line that will be used by T24 services.
