Gadgets shouldn't be used just as a social accessory
Gadgets are a boon to society. But we need to use them with care to lead a healthier and better quality of life, and not become slave to them just because they look cool or enhance our a social status.
AN AVERAGE Indian youth today is surrounded by gadgets, which are manufactured, marketed and sold with a tagline of making our lives easier, simpler and happier, but still our lifestyle reminds me of William Wordsworth’s poem:

"What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows."

Our car helps us to drive to work faster, mobile to network faster, food processor to cook faster. Laptop to work faster… In short, the productivity of a person to deliver his deliverables has definitely gone high but is it really making our lives worth living, full of pleasure with a tint of care freeness. I guess no.

Every second day we read an article about youth being involved in robbery cases, stealing cars, mobile phones, gadgets to live up to the standards of their friends/peers.

There are strict rules laid down to stop the usage of mobile phones during driving but not followed. The mobile companies are trying their best to increase their network and make it follow where ever you go. But that also mean over intrusion of work, unknown/unwanted people into your lives 24/7.

Average age for BP level globally increased in India. In 1980 to 2008, young Indians suffering from high blood pressure rose by close to 80 million, while the percentage of population suffering from the ailment rose from 21 per cent to almost 26 per cent.

Thanks to the idiot box that keeps us glued most of the time on weekends so kids running around with friends is far less seen sight today than yesterday. Elevators to make our flight simpler and a drop by a chauffeur driven car even to the nearest store has helped us only to spend our free time at multi specialty clinics for weight reduction, BP, heart problems rather than swimming, playing basketball or simply running for pleasure.

Diabetes, a lifestyle related disease heard to be affecting the 50+ population has increased because of junk food, unhealthy eating habits and a sedentary life is becoming an epidemic penetrating the youth of our country in an alarming rate. According to the latest World Health Oragnisation report India has the highest number of diabetes cases per year and still counting.

Gadgets definitely are a boon to society but we need to master them to help us lead a healthier lifestyle and not become slaves to them just because it looks cool to have them or they add a social status.

this is true that gadgets shoul not be JUST something to show-off but still, that is one aspect they aim at. like, basic purpose of a mobile is to enable us to talk and send sms, but we have symbian mobiles in the market. so of course we can show off gadgets till the time we are aware that basically, they are meant for something else.
