Games on Facebook to help Japan's quake-affected children
Owing to its mass appeal, social networking site Facebook, in association with Save the Children and Zynga, will now enable users to play some its hugely popular games to help the disaster stricken people and children in Japan.
IN WHAT could be a unique initiative, the NGO Save the Children is association with online games developer Zynga has devised a plan to help the disaster stricken people of Japan. Every time a user increases his/her cattle count on Farmville or bets most of his money on Zynga Poker, many children in Japan will stand benefited.

The initiative, which comprises of eight unique games such as Farmville, Cityville, Yoville, Zynga poker, zbar and world with your friends, have been chosen for fund raising.

 
An official from the NGO confirmed the report and said that currently the information is being assessed but they believe that many children have been affected by this catastrophe. He also said that it is their priority to ensure that children are safe, and to address their psychological need.

The official further stated that currently, it is estimated at least 21,5000 people have sought refuge in emergency shelters in eastern and northern parts of the country. A considerable amount of money is also required for distribution of emergency aid kit, medical aid and for repair of infrastructure.


According to Facebook, there are 50 million Farmville users, about 40 million Zynga Poker players, out of which almost 20 million are fond of frontierville and nearly 10 million cityville players every month. Due to such a large number of these game users, these have been selected for support in capital support for relief to affected.
