In Jaipur, Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of of Lord Ganesh, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety both at homes and temples amid tight security at Moti Doongari Ganesh temple on Monday, September 9. Lord Ganesh is most widely worshipped by the Hindus as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
The day began for the devout with prayers invoking the god to bless and remove obstacles in life. People with flowers, fruits and ladoos made a beeline at the famous Ganesh temple at Moti Doongri in the city. The hymns in praise of Ganesha were recited by the worshippers in the temple. Devotees also prepared Daal, Baati and Churma as an offering for Lord Ganesh on the festival.
Jaipur police made elaborate arrangements with the CCT cameras and strict vigil to ensure peaceful celebrations of the festival. Lakhs of devotees came for Darshan of Lord Ganesh at Moti doongari temple and to celebrate the festival here. Another important part the festival was a huge auspicious procession with tableaux of Lord Ganesh life events.
Centrally located in the heart of Jaipur, Moti Doongri Ganesh temple was built in 1761 and every devotee feels blessed by paying his or her obeisance to the idol here. Even otherwise, a fair is held every Wednesday at the temple which has three domes and thounsands of city dwellers and tourists visit the temple to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha.
Besides Ganesh Chaturthi, the festivals of Krishna Janamasthami, Annkuta and Paush Bada are also celebrated at this temple in a big way.
