The clarification given by former Army Chief General VK Singh of being perfectly 'non-political' when quizzed about attending a function organized by tainted Om Prakash Chautala to celebrate birth-anniversary of Chaudhry Devilal looks strange. Should a person now involved in anti-corruption crusade and earlier having led Indian army not convince himself about credentials of persons organizing a function?
General Singh had broken all norms of service-rules and morality when even during his tenure as Army Chief, he attended a similar political rally to unveil statue of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar at Ballia (UP), a function organized by Samajwadi MLA with rally-ground decorated with party-banners and hoardings. Action needs to be taken against him for attending political rally during his tenure as country’s Army Chief.
Otherwise also, was General Singh sure about honesty of the two departed political leaders, especially when we know that there are huge government-outstandings against late Chandrashekhar for use of IAF planes for non-official purposes during his tenure as Prime Minister?
