Get away from egoism
The letter 'I' signifying egoism in all religions and scriptures is regarded as the worst hurdle to get closer to the Almighty, the creator of the cosmos. Because of egoism, human beings have to face many problems and barriers in their life.
IN ALL religions and scriptures, ‘I’ signifying egoism is regarded as the worst hurdle to get closer to the Almighty, the creator of the cosmos. Lord Budha also says, “Because of egoism, human beings have to face many problems and barriers in their life.” Osho used to relate a story to his disciples. It is as follows:
A recluse (hermit) was passing through a village. One of his acquainted hermits used to stay in that village. He thought it is almost mid night, why not I stay with my friend? He then knocked the door of his friend’s abode. A voice came from inside: Who is there? The hermit thought that his friend would recognise him through his voice. He said, it is me. After this there was no response from inside. He knocked the door many times, but there was no answer. At the end, he lost his patience, and shouted: why don’t you open the door for me? Why are you quiet?
There was a voice that came from inside: Who are you; you have no understanding. People who call themselves ‘I’ have no right to do so. This right only belongs to the Almighty. There is a lock of ‘I’ only at the door of the Almighty. Anyone who breaks it, he finds that Almighty’s doors are always open for him. Sant Kabirdas also explains this truth in his couplet:
“Jab Main Tha, Tab Hari Nahi, Ab Hari Hain, Main Nahi, Prem Gali Ati Saankari, Tamein Do Na Samahin”.
In reality, people who are dominated by egoism destroy their rationale, and once rationale is destroyed, they get destroyed by themselves.
