Get, set, go: Indian International Trade Fair to begin today
Pragati Maidan will play host to the 31st Indian International Trade Fair, which is scheduled to start today. It will last for another 14 days, and ends on November 27, and will have Indian handicrafts as its theme.
INDIAN INTERNATIONAL Trade Fair, which is one of the most eagerly anticipated trade fair in the country, is upon us today at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The fair is scheduled to begin today, November 14, and wou continue till November 27. The theme for this year is, 'Indian handicrafts - The magic of the gifted hands'. So, one can expect a large array of handicraft products.
As usual, people from all around the country will be coming over to the location and be a part of one of the biggest trade fairs in the country. The event, which is said to last for 14 days, is expected to attract around 1. 5 million visitors, reported IANS. If we look at the number of exhibitors and the visitors in the fair, it would definitely be one of the biggest in the world.
The fair will be open to the general public from Nov 19-27, as the first five days would be attended by business visitors only. The cost of ticket on business days will be Rs 400, and on general days tickets can be bought for Rs 40 and 20 for adults and children respectively.
The event is arranged by commerce ministry and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), who expect the fair to be a major success. The fair would see a participation of many countries as well as Indian states. 22 countries and 27 Indian states are expected to participate in the event.
The fair would be having various stores for the visitors, including those having handicrafts from many Indian states, different products related to technology from foreign countries, special food from many countries of the world and many more, which is bound to attract people every day.
For those who are already thinking of visiting the fair can get their tickets from metro stations as well as ITPO counters. But, one has to be prepared for the rush, which is a common sight inside and outside the venue. Traffic Police have made some arrangements for the visitors so that they would have less trouble in parking their cars. Delhi Metro will also increase its frequency during peak hours. So with everything set in place, the fair is ready to begin.
