In his message on ‘World Press Freedom Day’, Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, president of KPA, has stressed upon the prestigious global bodies and governments of all nations to ensure freedom of press and to bring an end to all the forms of violence against journalists.
GH Kaloo expressed his concern over the growing attacks on journalists in Kashmir and in the other parts of the world. He stressed upon all the stakeholders to respect freedom of press, which is pivotal for the growth of humanity.
Pertinently, the United Nations General Assembly has declared May 3 to be World Press Freedom Day to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
