PARGAT SINGH who himself has a bad record has no right to comment on my leadership as chief of the Indian Hockey Federation (FIH), KPS Gill has said.

At last, the supremo of the Indian Hockey Federation has spoken out. In a recent interview by Sahara News reporters, Gill seems not to be upset by India’s defeat to Great Britain. He showed his dissatisfaction and blamed the International Hockey Federation for changing the rules of the qualifiers without intimation to the IHF.

He said that the International Federation is killing Asian hockey and their changes are damaging the sport. According to him India is far better than Pakistan. He added that he had already had a dialogue with the secretary general of International Hockey Federation on the said issues and he was hopeful to get a positive response from the federation in the coming days.

Critics and sports journalists are not happy with the statement. According to them, “Gill’s comments are just to safeguard himself. If we had performed during the Asia Cup then we could have easily qualified for the Olympics. During his 14 year of tenure no development has taken place, which has benefited the sport. As per the change in rules, the International Hockey Federation officially announced it but the Indian Hockey Federation officials got the information just a day back. Who is to blame for the poor administration, Gill needs to answer for all before safeguarding himself.”
