Gina Rinehart of Australia is set to overtake the likes of Carlos Slim and Bill Gates and bag the top position in the world richest list.

GINA RINEHART is not one of those rich people who inherit it all from their parents and pile on the wealth. Hers is a story of struggle and hard work, but despite the troubles Rinehart was strong enough to carry on. It is her never-say-die spirit that has brought her so far; she is expected to become the world’s richest person.

The 57-year-old Australian inherited a debt ridden mining company from her father some 20 years back. With hard work and dedication she not only managed to clear all debts, but also became the richest person in Australia. Her fortunes have almost doubled in the last one year, thanks to the commodities boom putting her amongst the top few in the world’s richest list.

With her three coal and iron ore projects, which are currently in development stage, Rinehart is likely to become the world’s richest person. The Australian businesswoman is currently worth $30 billion. Her core and iron ore projects are expected to reap $10 billion profit annually, giving her a net valuation worth of around $100 billion, and put her ahead of Carlos Slim, Mexican businessman who is worth $73 billion, and the Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who is worth $55 billion.

Although richest in Australia, Rinehart avoids publicity and is therefore not known to many people even in her homeland. After an unsuccessful first marriage, Rinehart tied the nod for the second time with Frank Rinehart, an American lawyer. Rinehart died in 1990.
