Girls once again out-perform boys in CBSE exam: What could be the reasons?
Girls have once again out-shined boys in the CBSE class XII results. With the spread of awareness about education and more girls getting into school education, the tables are turning in the favour of girls as better academic performers, it seems.
THE CBSE class XII results have been declared. It's revealed that the girls have once again fared better than boys with 86.93 per cent clearing the examination as compared to that of boys at 77.83 per cent.

With the spread of awareness about education and more girls getting into school education, the tables are turning in the favour of girls as better academic performers, it seems.

Some of the reasons being attributed by educators to the phenomenon of girls out-performing boys are as follows:

Girls believe in cooperation and herd-feeling and often revise in groups and their group performance thus gets better. On the other hand, boys are more competitive and treat one another as rivals. This makes them more stressed and their group performance goes down.

Single-sex schools' contribution to better learning among teens cannot be over-looked. Exclusive girls' schools produce better social learning environment and lead to better pass percentage. Some research studies have validated this fact.

For most girls in India, class VIII is the terminal education and hence they get screened and only good learners go for higher grades and thus producing better quality results.

Due to family traditions, there are very few distractions for girls, forcing them to remain confined indoors and concentrate on studies.

Many educators strongly believe that academic achievement can be made gender-equitable through group and cooperative learning methods. In other words, there is a need to feminise school education for boys to perform equally well.
