Girls' team wins 'Zara Nach ke Dikha' dance show
In the final battle of the sexes, at the grand finale of the dance show Zara Nach Ke Dikha, it was the ‘Meethi Churi’ girls' team that came out as winners. Boys' team (Tez Talwar) walked out of the show in protest of some of the judges decisions

THE DANCE reality show, Zara Nach Ke Dikha, had been on for the past two months and entered its final round on Sunday (September 28). The balance had kept tilting in the favour of either the girls or the boys and it was now in the grand finale that the final result had to be announced. The girls had gone with a slight lead of points going in to this final episode. The show was graced by the judges Malaika Arora Khan, Chunky Pandey and guest judge Saroj Khan.

The show started with the ’Tashan’ round wherein Karishma Tana fought it out against Bakhtyaar Irani. Karishma performed on the energetic track ‘Oop Oop cha’ from the upcoming film Drona. The winner of the round was Karishma Tana. The next round was the ’Zara Hatke’ dance round, in which the contestants had to perform a shadow dance, which is one of the most difficult dance forms to execute specially live on stage. The girls, Narayani Shastri and Mouni Roy, performed on ‘Lazy Lamhe’ ,whereas Gaurav and Bakhtyaar performed for the Tez Talwar team.

The judges applauded the performance of both the teams since the dance form was extremely difficult to perform in front of a live audience. The girls’ team was adjudged the winner of the round of the shadow dance. The judges including Saroj Khan felt that the boys had performed well but were not as polished as the girls in this round.

The next round was the couples round the ’Hum Tum’ round, in which three couples performed. Amit and Jennifer danced to the tune of ‘Bakhuda’. Vikas-Rupali and Gaurav-Narayani were the other couples who performed in this round. The Tez Talwar team of the boys was adjudged the winners of this round. The drama on the show erupted in the ’Face off’ round. The boys’ team were missing the services of Chaitanya who had fallen ill just days before the shoot and hence could not make it to the finals.

The face off round had Ashita pitted against Bakhtyaar, who was gearing up for his third performance of the day. The two danced on stage to the tunes of ‘Dhoom tana and Aaj Ki Raat’. The performance according to the judges was one of the best in the series with both the performers putting in their best. Both the teams had placed their respective bets on the round without revealing them to the opposing team. The judges voted in favour of Ashita as the winner of the round. This is when all hell broke loose. The boys believed that they had been given a raw deal and walked out of the show but walked back on after some time.

The final round of the grand finale, the ’Jhoom barabar’ round got going with the girls’ team performing a medley of numbers having the theme of the different cultures and dance forms representing the different states of the country. The judged appreciated the performance of the girls though they accepted the fact that there had been some mistakes in coordination and formation. The boys came on stage for their final performance on the series, but were so upset with the judgment given in the last round that they just clapped and moved around and refrained from dancing thus, expressing their disappointment at the decisions of the judges.

The judges were shocked with the protest of the boys and rebuked all of them. Malaiaka Arora Khan said that they were wasting everyone’s time and would rather be off stage then make a mockery of the entire competition. The boys miffed walked out of the show in displeasure. It was later revealed that the boys had put 250 points at stake in the face off round and since Bakhtyaar had lost that round they had no chance whatsoever of winning the competition even if they had won the last round. The boys had come out as sore losers in the whole deal. Chunkey Pandey even went to the extent of saying that he wanted to get a sex change operation done and didn’t want to be a boy after seeing the attitude of the guys.

The girls team were then adjudged the winners of the show and were given their trophies. Mouni Roy was adjudged the best performer of the show. The battle of the sexes which had enthralled and held the viewers captivated for more than two months ended on a bitter note with the boys team not showing any sportsmanship and walking off the stage when they realised they would have lost the show.
