Gita Jayanti to be observed today
December 17 will be celebrated as Gita Jayanti; it is the day when Bhagavad Gita was rendered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. Hindus and other admirers of this great scripture and its message, celebrate Gita Jayanti with devotion and happiness.
GITA JAYANTI is the day Bhagavad Gita was rendered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna and is observed on the 11th day of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) of Margashirsh month. This year, it falls on December 17.

Hindus and other admirers of this great scripture and its message, celebrate Gita Jayanti with devotion and happiness. The Bhagvad Gita is worshiped like a goddess on this day and its verses are chanted whole day.

As the legend goes that at the time of Mahabharata battle at Kurukshetra, Arjuna got confused to fight with his own cousins and other relatives. Then lord Krishna cleared his confusion by removing his ignorance by explaining the true aim of human life and immortality of soul.

Here is a summary of the message of the scripture through an acrostic on Bhagavad Gita.

B: Being equipoise in all situations.
H: Having faith in renunciation of the worldly things and work.
A: Aiming at one's pure identity.
G: Gaining control on lust, greed and anger.
A: Attaining knowledge through the disciplined succession.
V: Victory over senses and mind tainted with desires and illusions.
A: Accomplishing a meditative mind
D: Doing actions without any attachment to results.

G: Getting into higher evolutionary stages above and beyond mind.
I: Immortal is the soul - having a firm belief in this tenet.
T: Tuning to transcendental knowledge.
A: Acquiring deliberate intelligence and spiritual strength.
