Paris hosted the "Free Iran" rally on June 30, where delegates from around the world gathered to show support for the Iranian opposition. Several different speakers from areas of the international leadership noted the shifting international climate that the regime now faces.

One such speaker was Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York City and the current lawyer to U.S. President Donald Trump. Giuliani has been a long-time supporter of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its President-elect Maryam Rajavi. On June 29, the two had a meeting to discuss the recent developments in U.S. policy under the Trump administration.

In early May, President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and thus put sanctions back in place for Iran. The European governments are attempting to salvage the JCPOA with Iran, but European companies are pulling out to avoid conflict with the U.S. At the same time, supporters of the NCRI and the Iranian resistance point out that Iran remains in violation of multiple UN resolutions, which have not be enforced.

"It is wonderful to return here at a time of great significance and more hope than ever before. I believe that it is realistic that we see an end to the regime. We have seen this before with the people taking to the street, against all opposition, with numbers that threaten to topple the regime. When that happens, freedom is right around the corner," said Giuliani. He also noted that in 2009, the U.S. administration did not show support for the uprising, whereas President Trump tweets his support for the Iranian people as they continue to protest against the regime on a variety of issues.

"To those countries that continue to support Iran, you are paying for a regime that deprives women and children of their rights and kills opposition. How much better are you than the terrorists?" said Giuliani.

While he noted the tough economic realities of life in Iran, Giuliani also saw that pressure as important to weaken the regime even further. Giuliani spoke of the corruption within the regime and how they had stolen from the Iranian people. He also expressed his support for Rajavi and the resistance, calling them "an alternative to the regime that is built on democracy, human rights, and separation of church and state."

As he wrapped up his remarks, Giuliani was joined on stage by members of the U.S. delegation in a show of support for the Iranian people and their goal of freedom.
