CAPSI (Central Association of Private Security Industry) and APDI (Association of Private Detectives and Investigators) are holding the two day, security conference. President Pratibh Patil will be the chief guest at the event.
THIS DECEMBER, India will take center stage globally, on security issues, with the commencement of the first ever “Global Security Conference” to be held in the country. The two day international event, which is slated to be held on December 4 and 5, will witness global leaders, including heads of states, bureaucracy, central and state government agencies, leading private security companies and corporates, coming together to deliberate on issues pertaining to global security.
With the world shrinking into a large “global village”, the concern for security is no longer considered as local to any country, province or region. Social unrests, terrorism, insurgency, crime have transcended international borders, leaving no country immune to their impact. Besides, the South Asia region is emerging as the hot-bed of all terrorist activities, which may soon lead India to be in the forefront of war on terrorism.
In this backdrop, CAPSI (Central Association of Private Security Industry) and APDI (Association of Private Detectives and Investigators) have come together to host this event. With the theme “Global Security 09 - Initiatives, Knowledge and Employability”, the participants attending the conference will deliberate on issues, challenges and the way forward for enhancing security in India and the world.
The President Pratibha Patil, will grace the occasion as chief guest and will ceremonially inaugurate the conference on December 4. Participants from over 20 countries are expected to attend the conference.
Given the global security scenario, there is an urgent need for new initiatives which are geared towards taking an integrated global approach. This not only calls for international collaboration, but also requires a paradigm shift in the way security is viewed today. This could include policies, regulation, education and imparting of knowledge, critical to creating a benevolent global environment.
The critical factor that is stimulating the rise of security concerns is unemployment. It is proven fact that unemployment gives rise to crime and undesired social effects. Though the security industry in India and world over has been a major source of employment for people, there is an urgent need to create employment opportunities for people across the world, in order to alleviate law and order problems. Besides, the security industry specifically needs to be looked upon as an alternate career for a lot of eligible but unemployed youth.
Kunwar Vikram Singh, National Chairman of CAPSI and APDI said, “CAPSI and APDI have always been making efforts to alleviate security concerns related to the country. We are very happy to announce this landmark event, which exemplifies our vision to globally align the Indian security industry's initiatives that attempts to benefit every country. We hope, this will herald a new beginning in the way security is viewed not only in India but globally as well.
