IF YOU want to pay obituaries to your ancestors and beloved ones but you are not able to visit the bank of Falgu River in Gaya to perform all the rituals pertaining to pind daan, theer is a way out for you. The Bihar government has come up with this novel idea to facilitate the ‘live rituals’ for you with the facilities of internet, added with a web cam.
Just sit in front of the computer at your house and go online at the banks of the revered river to take necessary orders from your Brahmin priest and also ask him what other formalities would be needed to complete the process. But the facility will certainly come at a certain price, which you would have to pay trough your credit card.
Well, this techno-puja has not yet started but government here is quite serious in formulating one such plan during coming months when Falgu would be thronged by the visitors from across the globe for the rituals, which every Hindu would like to complete once in a life-time for the salvation of his or her ancestors.
For the Bihar government, it also compounds with other exercise of brand building image of the state.
“Millions of devotees come to the state to go to Gaya for pind-daan but there are also other people who are not able to make it there, during the period. And for them we have decided to give them an opportunity to perform puja while they would be in their house at their respective towns any where in the world,” said deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
“Our objective is to make them realise that Bihar is changing and we are not averse to catching fast with other states, which are more internet friendly,” he asserted.
“In fact, those who visit the state and others who will perform rituals at Gaya through net, will be considered as our brand ambassadors. They must realise that Bihar is no longer the same.”
Although, the facility will take some time to get underway but the state government has asked the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation to begin the process for it.
According to Hindu scriptures, Gayasur, a demon created by Brahma, received a blessing from Lord Vishnu that whoever would touch his feet would get salvation and would become free of rebirths. The tradition of pind-daan started from that day to help dead relatives get out of the cycle of birth and death.
