GoAir decision to hire only female crew a blessing in disguise for males 02 July, 2013
This article explains the hidden significance of a seemingly gender biased step taken by GoAir. GoAir decided to recruit only female crew to 'save fuel'. This article explains the brighter side of this apparent discrimination.

And rarely do we see the society rising up for men but on this occasion it did; as it was visible from the comments on the article “GoAir opts for female crew to save fuel” wherein even woman opposed this move.

Such sexist discrimination of men on the basis of their gender is not a new phenomenon. It has been happening since centuries when men have been denied seats besides children labeling the entire clan of men as pedophiles.

Somehow the society, including men, finds it very amusing to discriminate against men and insult and humiliate them. And it is this mindset of the society that makes is socially validating to have such discriminatory measures against men.

The above measure is also discriminatory; however, it can also be a blessing in disguise and a ray of hope for men facing tumultuous marriages.

It is a known fact that judges are mostly insensitive to a man, especially a husband. In divorce proceedings judges more often than not force the man to maintain his estranged and abusive wife even if the man is incapable of earning or has lost his job due to the emotional turmoil of going through a bad and tumultuous marriage.

Every year more than 63000 married men commit suicide being unable to bear the torture inside marriage. And in such a situation when all laws and social mindset are against men, this move by GoAir can actually benefit men.

Men, whose wives/girlfriends are employed by GoAir can heave a sigh of relief as they can claim maintenance from the partners should their earning female partners desert them, and for men this would be accepted by the court as well since a big company like GoAir has officially denied employment to men, so it is wrong to force these men to maintain their female partners.

Having systematically been denied a right to livelihood, men can actually use this opportunity as a blessing in disguise to relax and recuperate in life. While their female partners work and slog, these men can pursue their hobbies and live a peaceful life.

For all of its discriminatory stands against men in denying them employment based on their gender and for all its violation of the Constitution of India, I still find this move by GoAir socially beneficial to men.
