Good Friday Passion Liturgy in Vatican City focuses on unshakable Christian optimism
At the Passion Liturgy in St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City on Good Friday, April 14, presided over by Pope Francis, the Preacher of the Papal Household, Fr Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, preached the sermon centred on the Cross of Christ as the only hope of the world, reported Vatican News.

The Preacher of the Papal Household described the moment of
Christ's death apocalyptically and said that the same would 'happen in the
heart of a person who reads and meditates on the Passion of Christ.'
Fr Raniero Cantalamessa said that the death of Jesus had changed
forever the very face of death and gave it a new meaning to meditate on it.
After the sacrifice of Christ, more intense than the heart of darkness, a heart
of light beats in the world, he stated.
He urged for an 'unshakeable Christian optimism' and hope that
'all shall be well'. He also called for not giving up hope since no sin was too
great not to be forgiven.
