Good health is foundation of human progress: PM Modi on World Health Day
Each year, on April 7, he World Health Day is celebrated across the globe including India. This year, the observance focussed on the issue of universal health coverage.

In India, World Health Day was celebrated with awareness camps, talks by doctors, special articles in newspapers, campaigns, rallies and with tips and advises from health experts.

In schools, teachers talked exercises and yoga to keep fit along with discussions on balanced diet and essentiality of nutrients in daily meals. Even some companies joined in the event with a different motive. Various hospitals and gyms dished out health care options. Government health departments also organized programmes and discussed about Universal Health Coverage aim of the WHO.

The UN agencies gave a call for Universal Health Coverage for Everyone and Everywhere to ensure the inclusion of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and urged the world community not to exclude them from health services.

The gender issue was also brought to the fore by revealing that millions of Indian women aged 15 years and above are at risk of developing cervical cancer.

Wishing people on World Health Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his message said, "Good health is the foundation of human progress. This World Health Day, I wish all of you remain in the best health and continue to scale new heights of growth."

"I welcome the theme 'Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere' that has been chosen by WHO and others. It is the quest for 'Health for All' that inspired us to create Ayushman Bharat, the largest healthcare programme in the world," he added.
