CBSE has carried out a meticulous survey of the students before finalising strategy for X class and during survey it was found that most of the students were in favor of doing away with the board exam as it was like burden rather than blessing.
MINISTRY OF Human Resource Development, Government of India’s effort to ease the burden of bulky books from the minds of lakhs of students appearing in the 10th board exam for Central Board of Secondary Examination have taken concrete shape with CBSE saying that from the year 2011, X board will be optional.
The comprehensive new age education strategy under the aegis of HRD minister Kapil Sibal is aimed to provide succor to tenth class students across the county who at times due to either failure or low percentage are forced to take the extreme step of suicide. According to senior officials of CBSE, “A comprehensive plan in this concern has been made and it is in its last stage which will be made public within due course of time. A meticulous format has been worked out to test the potential and aptitude of the students of class tenth.” Before assuming office, Kapil Sibal has decided to undertake 100 day agenda, which was concerned with various issues related to the improvement of secondary and other higher education system, its quality and relevance in modern times.
Chairman of CBSE Vineet Joshi said, “CBSE has decided to go strongly on making the class X board exam optional and implement CCE (continuous comprehensive evaluation) grading system and other alternatives. The process of review of the present class X exam is over. In couple of days CBSE will come out with final modalities.”
