Google celebrates British engineer Hubert Cecil Booth's 147th birth anniversary with an animated doodle
The internet search engine and technology giant Google celebrates British engineer Hubert Cecil Booth's 147th birth anniversary with an animated doodle which in interestingly self-explanatory depicting his invention of vacuum cleaner.

Born in the British town of Gloucester in 1871, he was educated and trained as an engineer. He had an inventive mind and had been tinkering with things to find newer applications. But, he is best known for inventing and marketing the first powered vacuum cleaner.

His first petrol-powered, motorised horse-drawn vacuum cleaner was too bulky to be brought into the building as shown in the doodle. But it was built on the same principles of modern ones and later improved and handy versions started coming to the market.

Earlier cleaners had been just blowing or brushing the dirt away, instead of sucking and collecting it to be disposed off.

It was in 1901 that Hubert Cecil Booth patented the first motorized VACUUM CLEANER and it became a popular cleaner in various establishments.
