Google celebrates singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's 67th birth anniversary with a Doodle
Internet search engine giant, Google has honoured legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on his 67th birth anniversary with a sketch doodle. The doodle shows Khan in a qawwali singing pose with his accompanists. In the doodle, his raised hand replaces letter L of the logo of Google.

Born on October 13, 1948 in Pakistani, Khan as a noted musician excelled as a singer of qawwalis and devotional music of the Sufis.  He died young at 49 while at the peak of his singing career due to cardiac arrest August 16, 1997.

He popularized in the sub-continent the traditional mystic qawwali along with experimentations in gazal singing and jazz fusion. Some of his songs such as Kinna Sohan Tainu, Piya Re Piya Re, Gham Hai Ya Khushi, Mera Piya Ghar Aaya, Dum Mast Kalandar, and Afreen Afreen are still popular.

Khan (1948 – 1997) is considered to be one of the greatest voices ever recorded with an extraordinary range of vocal abilities. It is held that he could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. Since he revived and took to the peak devotional qawwali tradition of his family, he is popularly known as "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali" in Pakistan. In 1987, he received the President of Pakistan's Award for Pride of Performance for his extraordinary and rich contribution to music.
