Google Duo completes billion downloads
Google Duo has multiplied its count of downloads by manifolds. Its spiking downloading has landed it in the club of the app that has a billion or more users, as figured out by the app data miners. Its thorough analysis has given a cue that this messaging and video calling app is going to stride heights in the digital world.

A very popular high quality video calling & messaging app for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, Google Duo, joined a billion downloads club on Play Store this December.

Justin Uberti, a leading engineer of Google Duo, tweeted with excitement-"Another milestone for #GoogleDuo in exciting 2018. Enjoy a high quality Duo video call on all your new phones, tablets and chromebooks-we've got a lot more in store for 2019."

Androidpolice.com highlighted this benchmark as "Google Duo reaches 1 billion downloads on the Play Store."

Every day, a new app marks its presence in the Google Play, Apple App Store, Windows Store, Amazon Appstore and BlackBerry World. Statista has announced its survey report of app downloads from these stores in the third quarter of 2018. Google Play led with 21,00,000 apps whereas Apple App Store trailed to 2000,000 apps.

Apps marking 5-billion download club in 2018

On seeing the app downloads data analytics, two applications have exceeded 5+ billion. Moreover, 27 applications have clocked up between 1-billion and 5-billion applications download club, according to Wikipedia. However, the rift between both billion apps download clubs is exponentially high.

Apps marking 1-billion to 5-billion download club in 2018

Only Google Play Services and YouTube have exceeded 5000 million downloads each by the end of 2018, as per AndroidRank's data. Besides, Facebook   with 4.119-billion downloads, Facebook Messenger with 3.408-billion downloads, WhatsApp with 2.979 billion downloads and Instagram with 1.843-billion downloads have been the top performing apps in 2018.

As far as the top performer of this year is concerned, the messaging and video calling app-Google Duo outshined. Till July, it registered the 500-million downloads. The latter half of this year proved crucial. These downloads exceeded the former count of downloads.

It has been just two years (in 2016) when this messaging and video calling app made its presence across the digital platforms.  Its prominent reasons might be its availability across all platforms.

Google has mentioned about Duo in its official blog. Google has launched Duo support for iPad, Android tablets, Chromebook and smart displays. It is devised with a view to give more flexibility for making calls from your favourite devices. It is going to integrate an exclusive feature of leaving a video message. For tapping a foot with the modern technology, this Google app is focusing on quality improvements. It is going to be compliant with the machine learning. Presently, it's emerging as a leading tool for making video calls, which is easy to work with and reliable.

Apart from it, these apps surpassed 500-million downloads in 2018-Temple Run 2, Google Calendar, Samsung Internet Browser, Microsoft Word, MX Players, Samsung Health, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft OneDrive, Samsung Voice Recorder, Hill Climb Racing, ANT+Plugins Service, Google Docs, ANT Radio Service, Link Sharing, Samsung Email, Clash of Clans, Samsung My Files and Netflix.

On the flip side, app Allo failed to amplify its reach. Therefore, it's bidding adieu from the app world by the end of this year.
