Google marks 140th anniversary of Wimbledon with an animated doodle
The internet search engine giant Google celebrates the 140th anniversary of Wimbledon tennis tournament with an animated doodle on its home page today (July 3).

The doodle has a green background to depict that Wimbledon is a grass lawn tournament. The audience has been shown as stick drawing of the letters G, o, o, g and e with stick-hands and stick-legs. The stick figures jump with joy when a point is scored.

The letter 'l' has been shown as referee with a mike. Below the logo the court has been shown with two rackets playing the game with a yellow ball. On the right corner of the doodle the number 140 has been written with a bird-head pointing repeatedly towards the number to draw attention to the anniversary year of the tournament.

The Wimbledon Championship, founded in 1877, is the oldest and the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world which carries a prize money of 31.6 million GBP this year.

The tournament starts from today at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and will conclude on July 17 to draw huge crowds and excitement among tennis lovers across the world.
