Google marks India's 71st Independence Day with special doodle on its homepage
On the occasion of the Independence Day of India, internet search engine giant Google has put up a special doodle on its home page to join in the celebrations this year too.

The Google doodle shows the Google logo and Parliament building depicted in tricolours on the homepage to celebrate the national holiday.

The best part of the special doodle is that it has been designed by Mumbai-based artist Sabeena Karnik. She is known for her paper technique artwork which is evident from the doodle.

The Parliament House and other motifs have been depicted in Karnik's work to commemorate the significance of independence and democracy.

The paper cutting art also shows peacocks and the wheel with the three colours of the Indian flag and blue colour of the wheel.

The doodle is accompanied by a message proclaiming "Nation Wakes to New Life!" and reminds us of raising the national flag above the Red Fort's Lahori Gate to declare India's newly won independence through non-violent freedom struggle.

Happy Independence Day!
