Google marks Verghese Kurien's 94th Birthday with a doodle
The internet giant Google has honoured on its home page India's "Father of the White Revolution", Verghese Kurien, with a doodle. It is simple sketch doodle but impressive to mark the birth day of famous social entrepreneur who had created Amul brand of dairy products, now a household name.

In the doodle, word 'Google' has been formed with a rope looping at Kurien's feet, buffalo's feet; three milk containers and the stool. He has been shown sitting on the stool holding a container.

Verghese Kurien (1921 – 2012) had successfully operated the world's largest agricultural development programme and brought about the 'white revolution' in through his project called 'operation flood'.

He is credited for lifting 'India from a milk-deficient nation to the world's largest milk producer, surpassing the United States of America in 1998' and making 'dairy farming India's largest self-sustaining industry'. Another achievement to his credit is that of making country self-sufficient in edible oils.

He founded around 30 institutions of excellence and is regarded as 'one of the greatest proponents of the cooperative movement in the world, his work having lifted millions out of poverty in India, and outside'.

He had won many awards for his distinguished work like Ramon Magsaysay Award, Padma Vibhushan and Krushi Ratna Award.
