Google marks Women's Day- 2014 with a video doodle
Google marks the International Women's Day (IWD) with a video-based doodle on its home page to be seen across the world on March 8. The doodle has the Google logo with a play button in its second 'O' along with the Venus symbol for women.

Also, the Google logo is surrounded by many Venus symbols. The video shows women from all walks of life wishing Happy International Women's Day and it also features Malala Yousafzai and Asha Bhonsle.

It was revealed on the eve of IWD that the Doodle has the new ZAP MAMA acapella music for the occasion. The official UN theme for International Women's day 2014 is 'Equality for women is progress for all.'

IWD is celebrated on March 8 every year to mark women's achievements and to appreciate their contribution to the society and the world. It was in 1977 when the United Nations General Assembly asked member to observe IWD to heighten the awareness for women's rights and gender equality.

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, in her women's day message has said, "Today we join the people of the world in celebration of the progress made for women?s rights, women?s empowerment and gender equality. We also acknowledge that progress has been slow, uneven and in some cases women and girls face new and more complex challenges."
