GOOGLE ON Friday, May 14, 2010 announced its new plans about Nexus one. Google has decided to make the smartphone available in more retail stores but gradually shut down its web stores. The decision apparently came up since many customers are believed to prefer a hands on experience before buying a phone and want to go in for a wide range of service plans to choose from.
Google unveiled the Nexus one in early January. Since then, users could purchase the device online at the official website for $529.99 unlocked or $179.99 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile. However recent reports showed that the sales went down with Verizon and Sprint versions of Nexus becoming completely abandoned. Now on, the Nexus One Web store on Google's main site will be an online store window to showcase a variety of Android phones available globally. While Google had promised that Nexus One would eventually be available through all four of the major US carriers, both Verizon and Sprint in recent weeks cancelled plans to carry the phone.
Google hasn't confirmed through which retail channels Nexus One might be available. At the time of Nexus One's launch, Google said that the company had no immediate plans to add additional channels for Nexus One sales.
