The plan for indexing Facebook pages in its real time search results, has been up for consideration by Google for some time. The idea is based on the amount of content on these pages, like news from organisations, businesses, celebrities and bands.
AS PER an announcement by search engine giant Google, it has started indexing specific pages from social networking website Facebook. Google made the announcement through a tweet on its official Twitter page on Thursday.
The plan for indexing Facebook pages in its real time search results, has been up for consideration by Google for some time. The real time search itself is a new Google feature, one that was launched in December 2009.
The idea for indexing Facebook pages is based on the sheer amount of content available on these pages. Unlike profiles, a Facebook page is utilised by organisations, businesses, celebrities and bands, in order to provide latest news and updates about itself.
Google has also promised to take up feeds from other social networks like MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca. It began indexing MySpace feed since Valentines Day most have taken a bit of time.
The search engine has already begun indexing MySpace for its real time feed since Valentine's Day. Twitter is also indexed for the real time search.
