IN YET another path breaking technological advancement Google on Tuesday said that it had plans of launching its very own Google TV on a global platform by next year. The move is being looked as a technological advancement to bring technology inside the living rooms and bridge the gap between TV and internet.
Google had conducted a demonstration of its Google TV platform during the IFA Technology trade fair in Berlin. The service projects a search bar onto the top of TV screen and allows users to browse and search Internet while watching TV listings. The product is expected to get launched in the United States this fall.The company also said that it is working with various content and technology providers to rope in entertainment options in Google TV and it also plans to launch support for Android mobile applications in the same lines by next year. This application will make surfing lot more easier for the users as they will be now enabled to change the channels using their voice through Google speech recognition technology.
While delivering a key note at the technology summit, Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said that the Internet is creating a great disruption, which is changing so many things. He also added that the company will work with content providers, but it is very unlikely that it will get into actual content production.
