Confirming the news, Mike Yang, associate general counsel at Google wrote a blog post that read 'Long, complicated and lawyerly?that's what most people think about privacy policies, and for good reason, we're simplifying and updating privacy policy.'
TAKING PREVENTIVE measures to safeguard Indian users' sensitivities, Google on Friday announced that it will be stepping up its privacy policy. The Indian security agencies had earlier asked internet giant Google and Skype to give access to their internet data. Companies like Research In Motion that manufactures BlackBerry smartphones have also been asked to set up data servers in India.

Google will not carry on large scale changes in its privacy policy but will simply remove the redundant sections. Other sections which will be going significant changes are the removal of the repetitive product specific policy and the second would be new privacy tools page. The internet giant further stated that the changes will be effective from October 3 onwards.

Confirming the news, Mike Yang, associate general counsel at Google wrote a blog post that read “Long, complicated and lawyerly—that's what most people think about privacy policies, and for good reason, we're simplifying and updating Google's privacy policies.” He further wrote, “These changes are also in line with the way information is used between certain products—for example, since contacts are shared between services like Gmail, Talk, Calendar and Docs, it makes sense for those services to be governed by one privacy policy as well.”

For making the Google experience easier for the users, the company will add additional content to some of its help centers so that users do not face any difficulties in figuring out the privacy related information.

Google on Friday also mentioned that it has successfully settled a class-action case regarding its Buzz social-networking feature wherein the company will hand over $8.5 million. After settling the payments with attorneys and other expenses, the rest of the amount will be donated towards to internet policy and education groups.
