Government assures trouble-free Eid celebrations in J&K
The Muslim festival of sacrifice Eid-ul-Zuha or Bakra-Eid is going to celebrated on August 12 marked by special prayers, greetings, feast and exchange of gifts. It is a gazetted holiday in India.

Prime Minister Modi has assured the people of J&K of trouble-free celebration of Eid by providing all possible help to those from the state living elsewhere and wanting to return home for Eid.

The festival is celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in India in which celebrants wear new clothes and attend an open-air prayer gathering.

Most Muslims sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with family members, friends, neighbors and the poor.

It is believed that Allah commanded Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Ibrahim followed the orders, however, his son was replaced by a sheep at the last moment as the sacrificed.

It is being ensured, the sacrificial animal for Eid becomes available in Kashmir Valley. However, some Muslim leaders are saying that Kashmir would celebrate no Eid this year. But, the administration said they were making mobile delivery of essentials on Eid available. From Friday onwards the mutton and vegetables shops are being setup. Also, medical shops have been allowed to open their shutters and sell medicines.
