Government should promote entrepreneurship to address unemployment in India
Is the eye-catching GDP growth generating employments in India? Frankly speaking, not at all!

Under the UPA regime also GDP growth was there but no employment generation. PM Narendra Modi in an interview with Times Now TV said that there four crore jobs had been created through MUDRA Yojana. I don't dispute that.

In India, comparatively a high number of engineers, MBAs and other technocrats are joining every year to the already existing work force and are unemployed. No doubt there has been growth in infrastructure projects but then, at the same time, companies keep downsizing in terms of work force to survive in cut throat competition.

A saturation point has been reached with regards to employment opportunities for MBAs, IT professionals and other technocrats. We are seeking foreign investment but where do we invest?  If investment comes in to defence manufacturing or other high technology oriented products, Indian workforce doesn't have the necessary skills. Sources say that the bullet train project may not be able to employ the intended Indian workforce due to skill deficit.

So the question is how this issue of unemployment can be addressed? First of all, the skill level has to be improved. The courses for study of professional subjects need to be overhauled as the old syllabi are simply producing technocrats for namesake without skill.

Although, this would train people, it wouldn't solve the unemployment problem. I think there is need for another programme like 'MUDRA' to finance qualified youth encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. Professionals from every stream can become self-employed and should be helped financially to lead dignified lives.

Be it the organised sector or the unorganised sector, there aren't enough jobs for employing India's ever-increasing work force. Entrepreneurship is the only option. The government of India should give it a serious thought.
