Union health ministry accredited eleven private hospitals in Bangalore on Friday, to conduct the AH1N1 tests but only if they are accredited by the health ministry based on their testing facilities
WITH THE number of Swine Flu victims on rise throughout the country, state governments have started accrediting private hospitals and laboratories to test for Swine Flu victims as well as provide them treatment. This decision has been taken in the wake of government hospitals being unable to meet the huge rush of people coming for tests.
Union health ministry accredited eleven private hospitals in Bangalore on Friday (August 7), and more are likely to follow suit in other parts of the country. The government said that they have decided to allow private laboratories to conduct the AH1N1 test but only if they are accredited by the health ministry based on their testing facilities.
Tamiflu, the medicine used for treating the flu victims will also be made available at the district level, government said. The health ministry has, however, not allowed the sale of Tamiflu over the counter as it is feared that people, who are not even affected with the virus will consume it.
