After the ordinance to protect convicted MPs and MLAs from immediate disqualification was forwarded by the government to the President for approval, the CPI said that for the betterment of parliamentary democratic system, the government should nullify the ordinance.
The major political parties including the left and the principal opposition party, The BJP have opposed this ordinance. In such a situation we find the division within the congress party, and according to the reports the President made certain queries also about the need for such an ordinance. In such a situation, the government should nullify this ordinance and should not go ahead with the ordinance. This will be good for the democracy and the parliamentary democracy system in our country.
The bill has been listed in the last session of the parliament, and the parties should leave it to the wisdom of the parliament. The congress party and the government are not in a position to answer this and allow this ordinance to take up. So, the best course available with the government is to give up the idea of ordinance on this issue and leave it to the interest of the democracy.
