Grand old lady of Indian cinema, Zohra Sehgal dies at 102
Legendary actress Zohra Sehgal took her last breath yesterday around 4:30 pm in Max Hospital, New Delhi. The flamboyant actress had been unwell for the past two three days. She died of cardiac arrest. She has been cremated today at the Lodi Road crematorium, where a large number of bollywood personalities were present.

Zohra Sehgal started her career as a dancer with Uday Sankar in 1935. She appeared in many Bollywood films, English language films and Television series as well. Her last work on screen was in 2007 for Saawariyan. Prior to which, she had featured in movies such as Dil Se, Bend it Like Beckham and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, just to name a few. 

In spite of her age, it was her charisma, which stood out on each and every occasion. She would be fondly remembered for her smile, which was always present on her face, no matter what. She was referred as the 'The grand old lady of Indian cinema', who had such sparkling, indefatigable and enthusiastic personality even at an age of 102. It was only a few days back she had celebrated her birthday.

She had also acted with Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) and Prithviraj Kapoor's Prithvi Theatre for 14 years. She won a number of awards and it was India's civilian awards such as the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, which explains her position in Indian cinema. She had been also presented with the highest award, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship for lifetime achievement by India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama.

After the news of her death began to multiply over Twitter, tweets from Bollywood personalities started to pour in, remembering the legendary actress, offering condolences.
