Grand Old Man of BJP, LK Advani faces Pathetic Dilemma
Once an Urdu poet said, “Na tarapne ki ijazat hai na faryad ki hai, ghut ke mar jayen yeh marzi mere sayyad ki hai.” Neither I’m allowed to writhe in pain nor convulse in throes; My sentinel wants me to die of emotive suffocation. That is how one can define the pathetic state of Sri L K Advani at present.

From the setbacks of past, Advani Ji had already realized his shortened status in BJP and he was almost content with an anticipated ticket from Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. Unfortunately for him, the new bosses of BJP were releasing list after list of contenders, but there was no mention of Advani Ji in any of them. There was cunningly woven trap to ease him up into Rajya Sabha where he could enjoy the splendid isolation.

Here came gentle Shivaraj Chouhan to rescue the overlooked old man. Through his cronies, he invited Advani Ji to Bhopal to fight for Parliament seat. Chouhan has already prepared the contingency plan for his old benefactor. If no Gandhinagar, there is Bhopal. A sitting MP parroted the rehearsed document that he was ready to offer his seat on silver platter to Advani Ji. Posters and bill boards were put up all over Bhopal welcoming the ex- Sarvo Serva of Jan Sangh and BJP. Battle lines were clearly drawn now.

All along RSS was sure of its trump move of ‘Varanasi for Modi’. Pastures were greener till Arvind Kejriwal pulled the sheet from Modi’s feet. The plan turned topsy turvy. New equations and new challenges are emerging, which are making RSS nervous and the entire brass of RSS is getting jittery. There was a general impression in BJP that L K Advani has been already hammered enough and he is no longer a threat for new hierarchies – a tamed political nonentity. But, as the adage goes, “Older the goose, harder to pluck.” The elder statesman of BJP refused to swallow the bat.

He seems to be snapping out of his forced slumber and ready to rise like a Phoenix. He is now telling BJP that he is still not yet finished. Now, he is disinclined to fight the election from Gandhinagar as he fears that Modi 'bhagats' would double cross and take him down. In the past, Advani was not often very kind to NaMo and NaMo kind of politics. Might be, L K Advani is repenting the day when he had saved Specter of NaMo from extinction; when Atal Bihari had reminded Modi of Rajdharam.

Today,  agonized, insulted, isolated and cornered Bhishm Pitamah of BJP can’t writhe in pain. NaMo wants to put him in duress of Gandhinagar where an alleged or feared conspiracy is being hatched to politically finish the Octogenarian politician forever. Advani fears that a sure defeat would be heaped upon him if he fights from Gandhinagar. But as NaMo style demands - In BJP the last vestige of dissent against Narendra Modi is to be silenced. L K Advani might be forced to walk the plank. How pathetic to observe that all this is happening in the so-called party of Chal, Charitra and Chehra.

Interesting to remind,L K Advani had been contesting and winning from Gandhinagar since 1991. So, wait and watch. Keep your fingers crossed. Indian has enough of dirt in politics.
