'Great opportunities for Urdu-knowing scholars in film industry'

Continuing with its regular feature series, 'Ek Skaksiat se mulaqat', eminent Bollywood film writer and son of the soil, Kalwant Manhas was invited by the PG College Bhaderwah as a special invitee.

DEPARTMENT OF Urdu organized an extension lecture, in which Kalwant Manhas presented his invaluable views while Dr. R K Raina, principal of the college presided over. Dr. Mohd Iqbal, former principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his welcome address, Dr. Tariq Tamkeen, head P.G. Department of Urdu, highlighted the achievements of Mr Manhas in the field of film industry.

Dr. Ashiq Hussain, in his address, said that time to time institution makes provision that students shall be benefitted by lectures of experts in various fields since it is also one of the important co-curricular activities. “Moreover, main aim of the authorities is that the students get knowledge about the latest developments in different spheres, and this interaction programme is the part of such activities,” he said.

While interacting with the students, Mr Manhas through a detailed light on the writing of scripts of films and serials, said that the Urdu language has dominated the entire film industry and as such there are great employement opportunities for Urdu knowing scholars in the film industry. Dr. Mohd Iqbal in his address stressed on the importance of organizing such meets and added that such programmes act as a backbone for the future of the students.

Dr. Raina, in his presedential address, while praising the efforts of Mr Manhas in shining the film industry congratulated Dr. Tariq Tamkeen for inviting such a great personality in the college. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nissar Ahmed whereas the proceedings of the programme were carried out by Prof. Vijay Kumar.
