The bus reprtedly veered off the right side of road, before it came back on Interstate 37 and plunged into the median. The bus windows shattered, with the glass injuring many passengers. When rescue workers reached the sceme they luggage strewn, pillows and purses littered around and people stunned, waiting for medical treatment.
Tom Vinger, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman said,"People were all sitting on the grass stunned, wondering what happened. It was a mess."
Meanwhile, in what is being believed to be a bus jacking incident, a Kansas based passenger kicked the driver of a Greyhound bus on Interstate 70, causing it to go offcourse and strike into a fence in Utah. This injured six people including the driver.
The case, which happened late Monday night, has seen the passenger in question, a Santos Antonio Munoz-Gonzalez of Springdale to be nabbed on suspicion of bus jacking, criminal trespassing and 26 counts of aggravated assault. The attacker had run after the incident and hid in the rafters of a garage.
Greyhound buses are Intercity buses that run across North America, owned by Greyhound Lines bus company and head to 3100 destinations daily with 16000 bus departures. The Texas crash bus is operated by Americanos USA, a subsidiary of Greyhound Lines.
