Grim and solemn Easter in France: Paris' Notre Dame Cathedral's destruction by fire last week and the massacre on Sunday in Sri Lanka
In France Easter Sunday was subdued due destruction of Paris' Notre Dame Cathedral by fire last week and the bloodshed on Sunday in Sri Lanka due to serial blasts leaving many dead and injured.

Easter got celebrated with solemnity and gaiety on April 21 and the 'spirit of resurrection' for early restoration Notre Dame Cathedral that was recently damaged by fire. Hopes were high for swift restoration with contribution and donations of several million dollars that have poured in.

Instead of holding the Easter Mass at Notre Dame, the Cathedral's parishioners gathered in another  Church  to celebrate Easter. They also prayed for a speedy reconstruction the monument revered all across the world.

The fire-fighters who bravely worked to put the massive fire off were praised and honoured by the archbishop of Paris. However, the Catholics and tourists from around France and the world honored felt sad due to the closure of the Cathedral.

It was grim Easter Sunday due the closure of  Notre Dame Cathedral due to massive fire last week and the massacre in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.
