Perhaps call it our destiny or sheer bad luck, we have been grounded since last one year. Should we curse the early inventors of the 18th century and the other designers who valued the importance of Red, Yellow and Green later in the 19th century? Or consider ourselves the victims of administration's apathy.
THIS IS a lament by traffic signals. Earnestly speaking, we were the first known signal devices for regulating the street traffic in Chandigarh the city beautiful. Now we have been grounded mercilessly as if we have never guided the traffic and saved precious lives on road. It is an irony of fate that the once sparkling with Red, Green and Yellow colours, the signals now in the state of complete neglect. Only when we find the green signal shining in front of us, we start seeing red only.
No one has bothered to care us. We silently murmur with each other and confide our sorrows and miseries. Our heads, which were held high on the poles, now are lying low on the ground.
The vehicular traffic passing through the road throws a mischievous smile on us. No one stops near us and crosses without any attention. The Chandigarh traffic police, widely known as the most disciplined force to regulate the city traffic, may sometime have a ‘Look’ then ‘Stop’ and finally ‘Go’ and act before we start sounding the word ‘Caution’.
